Kirby Vacuum

Well I can’t believe that I just spent more on a vacuum than I did on my wedding dress.

It all started when I was doing a little cleaning around the house, and I do mean “a little” Lol. My very expensive Dyson vacuum has always been there for me. It was a wedding gift fortunately because I couldn’t fathom spending $500 on a vacuum. I have enjoyed it for 3 years until last week when it blew up. I mean it made a terrible noise and that was it. R.I.P Dyson. I considered just going out and getting another one but something kept bothering me. I mean I did like the Dyson but 3 years seemed a little premature for it to just explode. I called my mother and asked her what she would do if she were in my position. I really didn’t want to spent $500 but also didn’t want something cheap that would not last either. To my surprise she recommended that I don’t buy either one. What?! What kind of advice is this? She said, remember the vacuum I had when you were really little that you use to use as a microphone and sometimes sit on and pretend you were riding a horse. Yes, I said. Well that was 20 years ago and I just cleaned my carpet with the same one this morning. I was in shock. I mean my parents are clean freaks. They make Danny Tanner look like an amateur. (A little full house humor for my generation, LOL). I thought, how could they put that much trust in something that ancient?

Well I did a little research. OK maybe more than a little. I stayed up till 3 am reading reviews. I came to the conclusion that my mom was right. Almost every review was about how great and long lasting that old Kirby vacuum was. Next step was coming to grips with the price. It wasn’t $500. Try 4x that amount. My heart sank. I called my mom and said, are you out of your mind. How can I justify paying that kind of money? She said simple. You had the Dyson for 3 years at an average of $166 per year. ($500 divided by 3) do the same math and if the Kirby lasts you 20 years you are at $100 per year. It actually costs you less. I thought, that makes since and doesn’t at the same time. Interesting. Well to make a long story short I have the Kirby know and couldn’t be happier.(see Home Page to learn how I get my reviews, comments, and content)

Hope this helps you.

  1. The Kirby Vacuum is a phenomenal piece of equipment. We have 3 dogs and it seems like the shed a whole dog every other day. The Kirby is the only Vacuum that has ever kept my place free of pet hair. If you have pets and kids you should really think about investing in one. It will save you time and money in the long run.
